One of the most popular holiday destinations in New South Wales with more than 25 tourist attractions and activities, Dubbo offers an amazing range of activities from bird watching, to cultural centres, to an authentic safari experience.

  • See the wild, in the wild, safari-style at Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Travel by car, bike, electric cart or trek on foot, you’ll venture through a 6km circuit featuring some of the most distinctive global wildlife habitats in the world, bordered by picnic grounds and magnificent bushland.
  • Discover a well-preserved slice of history at the remarkably intact 19th Century, Old Dubbo Gaol. Be inspired by a tale of endeavour and vision and step back into life in the early colony at Dundullimal Homestead, Australia’s oldest standing timber slab homestead.
  • Western Plains Cultural Centre – Browse a selection of 5,000 items telling the story of Dubbo and its people and view a Dendroglyph (carved tree), an immensely important Aboriginal artefact. Discover the City’s Aboriginal culture on a First Lesson Cultural Tour and be awe-struck by 150 carved rock grooves at Terramungamine Reserve. Or relax in a 500-seat tiered theatre and take in an international-touring show at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.
  • Cycle the 12.5km Tracker Riley Cycleway interspersed between rugged bushland on the banks of the Macquarie River stretching from Dubbo’s CBD to Taronga Western Plains Zoo
  • Hire a kayak or stand-up paddle board from Adventure Water-sports and discover the City’s spectacular river corridor, or explore 10 hectares of undulating land at Dubbo Regional Botanic Gardens and relax with a picnic in one of Australia’s most authentic, traditional Japanese gardens.
